PTO Academic Programs

  • 2nd Grade Publishing - The Findley Oaks PTO organizes a special opportunity for all second graders to create a special hard-covered book, including illustrations, that will capture your student's writing and drawing talents. You will treasure these books!

 

  • Fine Arts & International Night - Fine Arts and International Night is a cherished family event. It takes place in the spring. Families can come to view their child’s artwork displayed throughout the school. The artwork is framed and matted and available for purchase. Proceeds support the Art department. The gym hosts the International Village, where you can learn about the many cultures that make up our diverse school community. On stage in the cafeteria, students perform many talents such as cultural songs, dance, and martial arts. This is an event not to be missed!

 

  • Media Center
    • Volunteers - The main goal of the Media Center volunteers is to assist the Media Center Specialist and paraprofessional. This makes it possible for them to be available to teach classes and help students with research. The volunteers help with the day-to-day operations of the Media Center to see that it's neat, orderly, and running efficiently. They also help with the annual book fair.
    • Media Center Funding - The PTO budget provides supplemental funding for Media Center equipment, technology, or other supplies.

 

  • Outdoor Discovery - Children participate in a variety of activities utilizing the outdoors and nature to enrich the students' learning on the classroom curriculum while also connecting kids with nature to inspire an appreciation of the outdoors and the natural world. Various Fall outdoor classroom activities are planned as well as a student planted and tended Spring vegetable garden.

 

  • Reflections - PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home. Participating students, of all grades and abilities, create original works of art in the categories of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts.

 

  • Teacher Grants - The Findley Oaks PTO is pleased to offer the Teacher Grant Program, which allows the staff to provide innovative and creative learning opportunities for the students of our school. Applications are completed by staff members and then selected by the Grant Committee based on certain criteria and a yearly budget. 

PTO Engagement Programs

  • 1st Grade Mother's Day Tea - Our 1st grade teachers put together a very memorable and heart-warming Mother's Day Tea. Mothers of first graders are invited to join their children in their classrooms, where the kids present them with artwork, singing, writing, presentations, and refreshments. It is truly an experience to cherish. Don't forget your tissues!

 

  • 5th Grade Week - Each year, the final week of school is 5th Grade Week, when we organize fun and memorable activities to celebrate the exciting achievement of "graduating" from elementary school!  Some of the activities include "Who's that Beautiful Baby?" contest, yearbook signing,  the "Jam" (dance) with slideshow, the Farewell Walk, and other fun and games.

 

  • Bingo Night - Bingo Night is an exciting annual family event! Families enjoy a night of food, Bingo, and prizes as we come together and raise funds to support PTO programs! 

 

  • Campus Beautification - The PTO provides funding for artistic enhancements to the school. Each year, funds go towards materials for 5th Grade Legacy artwork and quilts. On occasion, other artwork is purchased.

 

  • Career Day - Career Day is a day for your children to get hands-on learning about different careers and programs right here in our community! In the past we have learned how jobs have changed over the last 20 years, when Findley Oaks first opened their doors, celebrating our Home Town Hero’s that help us right here in Johns Creek, to learning how STEM is used in everyday jobs now that Findley Oaks is lucky enough to have their very only STEM lab. It is an amazingly special day for the kids and teachers a like. 

 

  • Class Coordinators - There is one Class Coordinator parent volunteer per classroom for the school year. The Class Coordinator is responsible for communications between the PTO, school, and classroom families. The main responsibilities include planning two class parties in December and May and forwarding important and timely email communications to the parents. The PTO organizes the volunteers and activities for the Class Coordinator program. 

 

  • Exceptional Children's Week - Exceptional Children's Week is a nationwide celebration that brings recognition and awareness to various special needs of students and the teachers that work with them. The PTO partners with a team of Findley Oaks teachers to decide on various ways of doing so, such as Falcon Talk, posters, bulletin boards, and classroom participation.

 

  • Family Movie Event - Each year, the PTO organizes a Family Movie event, either an outdoor movie at the school, or an indoor movie at a theater.

 

  • Father-Daughter Dance - Findley Oaks PTO requests the pleasure of your company at a very special Father-Daughter Dance each spring. You will not want to miss it!

 

  • Field Day -  The PTO provides funding to the Physical Education department to purchase supplies needed for Field Day. In addition, the PTO assists the P.E. department in getting volunteers. This event is highly anticipated by the students every year, and always promises a great experience! 

 

  • Health & Safety - The PTO organizes volunteers for the annual hearing and vision screenings at school. 

 

  • Mother-Son Night - Findley Oaks PTO invites mothers and sons to come have a blast at our annual Moother-Son Game night each spring! 

 

  • Spirit Days - We have Spirit Days throughout the school year, where classes are encouraged to show their Findley pride by wearing their Class Shirts. Classes with the most participants in each grade win a Spirit Day trophy to display in their room until the next Spirit Day and those students and teachers are also eligible for prizes. Come to visit on a Spirit Day if you get a chance, and join in the fun! 

 

  • Spirit Nights - As part of our on going fundraising efforts, we partner with local businesses to raise money for the PTO programs. Every year we have some great Spirit Night events to help put the fun in fundraising. So bring the whole family out and let's get together on Spirit Nights!

 

  • Spirit Shirts - Each year the PTO creates a new design for the Spirit Shirt. They are a fun way to show your Findley pride! Students wear them for Spirit Days, field trips, Field Day, and special events. Please visit the PTO Store to purchase yours today! Parents are welcome to buy Spirit Shirts for themselves too! Proceeds support our PTO programs.

 

  • Staff Appreciation - Our Findley Oaks teachers and staff are a wonderful asset and we strive to make sure they know how much they are appreciated for all they do for our students. The Staff Appreciation Committee kicks off the school year with a welcome back lunch. We also host lunches throughout the year. Our biggest event is Staff Appreciation Week in February.

 

  • Yearbook - PTO volunteers pull together photos, articles, and other content to create a Yearbook with special memories of the school year. Proceeds help to support PTO Programs. 

 

  • Welcome Back Popsicle Party - The PTO will hosts a "Welcome Back" Popsicle Event for students during lunchtime at the start of the school year.

Fundraisers

  • Business Partners - business partners are local community businesses that partner with our school in a mutually beneficial relationship and are vital to the success of our PTO.

 

  • Online Auction - Each year with the help of local business partners, the PTO organizes a silent auction to help raise money for Findley Oaks.

 

  • Tanner Photo Sessions Don’t blink! Time flies and, sooner than you think, your student will be moving on to middle school & then high school! Now's the time to take a great family portrait! Findley Oaks PTO partners with Tanner Family Portraits each fall to put together this opportunity for Findley Oaks families.

 

  • Fun Run - The Findley Oaks FUN RUN is held each fall, in an effort to support student PTO academic and enrichment programs, while promoting health and fitness.This is a very successful and FUN fundraiser for our school! The Fun Run includes pep-rallies and prizes for top fundraisers and to classrooms with the most laps.
